Vintage 2022 Dogliani Superiore DOCG "San Matteo"

Tasting Notes

It’s our best cru. Prestigious wine of great longevity, it bears the name of the chapel dedicated to San Matteo, built a century ago at the edge of the vineyard, the oldest of the company. The peculiarity of the soil, the exposure, the ideal microclimate and a limited yield per vinestock are among the determining factors that give San Matteo its unique character. The grapes that arrive in the cellar (100% dolcetto)  are the result of a rigorous sorting in the vineyard, followed by a further selection at the time of the harvest, done by hand in early October.

Traditional vinification methods make it possible to obtain a refined and temperamental product, a true expression of the territory. Moreover, in order not to alter its original organoleptic potentialities, it is neither  refrigerated  nor filtered.

The next refinement, started in stainless steel vats and continued in high-quality wooden barrels, gives it further  touches of great personality. It is characterized by a purple texture, with glow ruby. It has a scent of remarkable personality, austere and, at the same time, of great fineness. Elegant and important is  also the  gustatory phase: full bodied, strong, but balanced by smooth and polished tannins.
